इंदौर: कपास और तेल मिल में भीषण आग, परिवार खिड़की की ग्रिल से बच निकला, दूसरा सीढ़ी से उतरा

दमकल विभाग ने 10 घंटे से अधिक समय तक मशक्कत के बाद आग पर काबू पाया

इंदौर (मध्य प्रदेश): बुधवार को चितावद रोड पेट्रोल पंप के पास अपने घर से सटे कपास और तेल मिल में लगी भीषण आग से दो परिवारों के ग्यारह सदस्य बाल-बाल बच गए, लेकिन दुख की बात है कि आग ने उन्हें बेघर कर दिया, क्योंकि आग ने उनके घरों को पूरी तरह से जला दिया। दमकल विभाग ने 10 घंटे से अधिक समय तक मशक्कत के बाद आग पर काबू पाया।

पांच सदस्यों वाला एक परिवार क्रिकेट बैट से खिड़की की ग्रिल तोड़कर और टिन शेड पर चलकर बच निकला, जबकि दूसरे परिवार के छह सदस्य गीले कपड़ों में लिपटे हुए थे और सीढ़ी का उपयोग करके पीछे के प्रवेश द्वार से नीचे पड़ोसी घर में चढ़ गए।

आग छोटे लाल और अखिलेश गोयल के स्वामित्व वाले सिद्धि विनायक इंडस्ट्रीज में लगी और इसने मिल से सटे अशोक डौड और उनकी भाभी शकुंतला बाई के स्वामित्व वाली उसी इमारत में दो फ्लैटों को अपनी चपेट में ले लिया। दोनों फ्लैटों में एक ही प्रवेश मार्ग है, जो भारी धुएं और ऊंची लपटों से भरा था। आग में घरेलू सामान, नकदी और आभूषण समेत लाखों रुपये का सामान जलकर खाक हो गया। कोई हताहत नहीं हुआ, लेकिन काफी आर्थिक नुकसान होने की आशंका है। एक फ्लैट में क्रिकेट कोच अशोक डौड (56), अस्थमा से पीड़ित उनकी पत्नी अनीता (51), आईटी कंपनी में प्रोजेक्ट मैनेजर उनका बेटा हर्ष (27), उनकी बेटी निकिता (30) और सोनिया मारोठिया (35) थे, जो घटना के एक दिन पहले अपने छह साल के बेटे रियांश के साथ उज्जैन में अपने ससुराल से आई थीं। दूसरे फ्लैट में शकुंतला बाई (55), उनके बेटे वर्नित (33) और आनंद (30), बहू अंजलि (28) और शिवानी (24) थीं, जो गर्भवती हैं और भारी धुएं के कारण बेहोश हो गईं। दमकल विभाग के मुताबिक सिद्धि विनायक इंडस्ट्रीज में तड़के करीब तीन बजे आग लगी। आग बुझाने के लिए तीन दमकल गाड़ियां और कई टैंकर मौके पर भेजे गए, जो दस घंटे से अधिक समय तक चले। आग बुझाने के लिए दमकल विभाग ने 3.20 लाख लीटर से अधिक पानी का इस्तेमाल किया। आग पर पूरी तरह काबू पाने के लिए मिल के टिन शेड को गिराने के लिए जेसीबी मशीन का इस्तेमाल किया गया।

कांच का टूटना, हमेशा अशुभ नहीं होता

अशोक डौड (56) हॉल में सो रहे थे, तभी उन्हें आग की तेज आवाज सुनाई दी। आग की तेज लपटों और काले धुएं को देखकर वे घबरा गए और परिवार के अन्य सदस्यों को जगाया। आग की तेज लपटों के कारण फ्लैट का प्रवेश द्वार बंद हो गया था, इसलिए उन्होंने खुद को बचाने के लिए गीले कपड़े लपेट लिए। वे छत पर पिछले दरवाजे की ओर भागे और सीढ़ी की मदद से अपने पड़ोसी के घर में उतरे।

आग घर में फैल गई और गीजर फटने के बाद विस्फोट हो गया। शकुंतला, वर्णित, आनंद, अंजलि और शिवानी ने अपने पीछे के कमरे में शरण ली, लेकिन आग की लपटें फैल गईं और उनके पास बचने का कोई रास्ता नहीं बचा। गर्भवती शिवानी भारी धुएं के कारण बेहोश हो गई, लेकिन परिवार के सदस्यों ने उसे बचा लिया। उन्होंने क्रिकेट बैट से खिड़की की ग्रिल तोड़ी और अपनी बिल्डिंग के बाहर टिन शेड के सहारे अपने पड़ोसी के घर भाग गए।

भयावह घटना को याद करते हुए

फ्लैट में फंसे हर्ष डौड ने घटना को याद करते हुए बताया कि दोनों फ्लैट आग की लपटों में घिर गए थे और कुछ भी नहीं बचा था। उनकी और उनकी बहन निकिता की 23 नवंबर को शादी तय थी और उनके परिवार वाले तैयारियों में व्यस्त थे, लेकिन अब उनके पास रहने के लिए कोई जगह नहीं है। आग में दोनों फ्लैटों का सारा सामान जलकर राख हो गया, जिसमें घरेलू सामान, नकदी, आभूषण, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स और फर्नीचर शामिल हैं, जिससे लाखों रुपये का नुकसान हुआ है। बार-बार की गई चेतावनियों पर भी कोई ध्यान नहीं दिया गया

परिवार के अन्य सदस्यों ने बताया कि उन्होंने तेल मिल मालिक को इलाके में इस तरह के कारोबार से होने वाले खतरों के बारे में कई बार चेतावनी दी थी, लेकिन उसने इस पर ध्यान नहीं दिया। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि मिल अवैध है क्योंकि यह रिहायशी इलाके में है और इसके पास प्रदूषण विभाग से एनओसी नहीं है। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि उन्होंने अपने घर को मिल से अलग करने के लिए खुद ही टिन शेड भी लगवाया है।

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Eleven members of two families had a close shave when they managed to escape a raging fire in a cotton and oil mill adjacent to their houses near Chitawad Road Petrol Pump around 2:30 am on Wednesday but sadly the fire made them homeless as it completely gutted their homes. The fire brigade managed to douse the flames after struggling for more than 10 hours.

A five-member family escaped by breaking the window grill with a cricket bat and walking on tin sheds, while six-members of another family wrapped themselves in wet clothes and climbed down from the back entry to a neighbouring house using a ladder.

The fire broke out in Siddhi Vinayak Industries, owned by Chote Lal and Akhilesh Goyal, and it engulfed two flats in the same building owned by Ashok Doud and his sister-in-law, Shakuntla Bai adjacent to the mill. Both flats share a common entry passage, which was filled with heavy smoke and high flames. Goods worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the fire, including household items, cash and jewellery. No casualties were reported, but a significant financial loss is expected.

The people in one flat were Ashok Doud (56), a cricket coach, his wife Anita (51), who suffers from asthma, their son Harsh (27), a project manager in an IT company, their daughter Nikita (30), and Soniya Marothiya (35), who had come from her in-laws’ place in Ujjain a day prior to the incident with her six-year-old son, Riyansh. In the other flat were Shakuntla Bai (55), her sons Varnit (33) and Anand (30), daughter-in-law Anjali (28), and Shivani (24), who is pregnant and fell unconscious due to the heavy smoke.

According to the fire brigade, the fire erupted in Siddhi Vinayak Industries around 3 am. Three fire tenders and several tankers were dispatched to the spot for a firefighting operation that continued for more than ten hours. The fire brigade used more than 3.20 lakh litres of water to extinguish the flames. A JCB machine was used to raze down the tin shed of the mill to fully control the fire.

Shattering the glass, not inauspicious always

Ashok Doud (56) was sleeping in the hall when he was alerted to the fire by a loud noise caused by the glass breaking due to the tremendous heat of the flames. He panicked on seeing the flames leaping high and the dark smoke and woke up the other members of the family. The entry gate of the flat was blocked due to high flames, so they wrapped themselves in wet clothes to protect themselves. They fled towards the back door on the roof and stepped down into their neighbour’s house with the help of a ladder.

The fire spread to the house, and an explosion occurred after a geyser exploded. Shakuntla, Varnit, Anand, Anjali, and Shivani took shelter in their back room, but the flames spread, leaving them with no escape route. Shivani who is pregnant fell unconscious due to heavy smoke but family members managed to rescue her. They used a cricket bat to break the window grills and escaped to their neighbour’s house by walking over a tin shed outside their building.

Recounting the horror

Harsh Doud, who was trapped in the flat, recounted the incident, stating that both flats were engulfed in flames and nothing remained. He and his sister Nikita had a wedding scheduled for November 23, and their families were busy with preparations, but now they have no place to stay. All belongings in both flats, including household items, cash, jewellery, electronics, and furniture, were destroyed in the fire, resulting in losses worth lakhs of rupees.

Repeated warnings fall on deaf ears

Other family members said they had warned the oil mill owner several times about the dangers posed by such a business in the area, but he did not pay attention. They alleged that the mill is illegal as it is in a residential area and does not have an NOC from the pollution department. They added that they had even installed a tin shed themselves to separate their house from the mill.
