उसके “अपहरण” का खुलासा सोमवार को तब हुआ जब कायवा के पिता रघुवीर धाकड़ को एक तस्वीर मिली जिसमें वह रस्सियों से बंधी हुई दिख रही थी और साथ ही उसकी रिहाई के लिए 30 लाख रुपये की फिरौती की मांग की गई थी। इस घटना ने तब तूल पकड़ लिया जब केंद्रीय नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्री ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया ने लड़की को ढूंढने और उसे सुरक्षित वापस लाने के लिए राजस्थान के सीएम भजनलाल शर्मा से बात की, जिसके बाद राजस्थान और मध्य प्रदेश पुलिस को हाई अलर्ट पर भेज दिया गया। लड़की एमपी के शिवपुरी जिले के बैराड़ की रहने वाली है। पुलिस ने कहा कि कोटा और इंदौर पुलिस की एक संयुक्त टीम ने भंवरकुआं के एक छात्रावास में रहने वाले बृजेंद्र से बात की और उसने पुलिस को बताया कि लड़की विदेश में पढ़ाई करना चाहती थी। कोटा पुलिस की एक टीम आगे की जांच के लिए बृजेंद्र को कोटा ले गई है। पुलिस ने साफ कर दिया कि बृजेंद्र आरोपी नहीं है, बल्कि पुलिस की मदद कर रहा है.
इंदौर पुलिस ने कहा कि उन्होंने मंगलवार भर काव्या और उसके दूसरे पुरुष मित्र की तलाश की, लेकिन उनका पता नहीं चल सका. इससे पहले कथित अपहरण से बमुश्किल 3 घंटे पहले 18 मार्च के सीसीटीवी फुटेज में छात्र को जयपुर के दुर्गापुरा रेलवे स्टेशन पर देखा गया था. फुटेज में वह दो लड़कों के साथ घूमती नजर आ रही थी. कोटा पुलिस भी जांच के लिए थाने पहुंची है. सीसीटीवी के आधार पर लड़की की लोकेशन का पता लगाया जा रहा है. कोटा एसपी ने कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ते हुए लड़की के बारे में जानकारी देने वाले को 20 हजार रुपये का इनाम देने की घोषणा की है.

The girl hails from Bairad of MP’s Shivpuri district. Police said that a joint team of Kota and Indore police managed talked to one Brijendra, who lives in a hostel in Bhanwarkuan, and he told police that the girl wanted to study abroad. A Kota police team has taken Brijendra to Kota for further investigation. Police made it clear that Brijendra is not an accused, but is helping the police.
Indore police said that they searched for Kavya and her other male friend throughout Tuesday, but could not trace them. Earlier, in CCTV footage of March 18, barely 3 hours before the alleged kidnapping, the student was seen at Durgapura railway station in Jaipur. In the footage, she was seen walking with two boys. Kota police have also reached the station to investigate. The girl’s location is being ascertained on the basis of CCTV. Not leaving any stone unturned, Kota SP has announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for anyone who gives information about the girl.
